
Saulo Zoca is an Assistant Professor and Extension Beef Cattle Specialist in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Zoca earned his DVM from São Paulo State University (UNESP – Botucatu, Brazil), his M.S. from the University of Idaho, and his Ph.D. in Animal Reproductive Physiology from South Dakota State University. His integrated research and Extension program focuses on improving reproductive efficiency in beef cattle through applied reproductive management, bull fertility evaluation, and the discovery of novel fertility markers. His work combines laboratory and field-based studies to enhance understanding of sperm physiology and fertility, and to provide practical, science-based strategies for producers to improve reproductive performance in their herds. Dr. Zoca co-coordinates the University of Tennessee Bull Development and Evaluation Program and the Tennessee Beef Heifer Development Program, leading statewide efforts in reproductive education, data collection, and producer engagement. Dr. Zoca has authored or co-authored more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles, 20 proceedings, and over 50 abstracts and Extension publications in national and international outlets.
